CFAES Wooster Campus Community:
The past few months have brought tremendous change on our CFAES Wooster campus, and we may yet see more to come. Despite these challenges, we have to remember that the importance and the impact of our work will never change. Our college and specifically our CFAES Wooster campus will continue to increase research excellence, expand public-private partnerships, and enhance workforce development for our students and our community. We see that today. Fields are being prepped or planted— the first Battle for the Belt trial was planted in March. We will continue cooperative experiments with companies such as Bayer, BASF, Corteva, Syngenta, AgPro, and Kubota. In May, 104 undergraduate and 6 graduate students will receive their degrees. Our campus and our college will be forever resilient in continuing our mission that We Sustain Life.
As many of you know, Dr. Jon Witter became Interim Assistant Dean and Director of ATI in April. Dr Witter brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the position. I look forward to working with him and grow opportunities for CFAES Wooster. I would also like to extend my appreciation for the leadership of Dr. Kris Boone. We wish her the best in her new role at Southern Illinois University.
In this issue, we highlight two of our new people: Dr. Ram Yadav (HCS) and Andrew Hostetler (Project Manager, Facilities, Operations and Development). We have spotlights for SENR graduate student Meg Edwards and Animal Sciences undergraduate student, Brooke Stottsberry, and recognize students that are graduating in May. Our research highlight focuses on the STAR and MCIC Labs and provide information ahead of their open houses on May 2 from 12 to 3 PM. I also want to express my appreciation for Malainy Boes, and ACEL undergraduate helping us with our newsletter this semester as part of her practicum.
I have enjoyed my visits to departmental units and am excited for my conversations with those that I have not yet met with, including service units. I have heard so many positive stories about our impact, as well as ideas on how to improve our CFAES Wooster Campus Community. I am looking forward to implementing these ideas, especially once the Autumn semester begins. Until then, I hope everyone has a successful and productive summer.
