Staff Spotlight: Andrew Hostetler

hostetlerName, title & department:  Andrew Hostetler, Project Manager, FOD Design and Construction  

Describe your work:  Manage, supervise, direct and coordinate new construction and renovation projects through the entire project life cycle, including but not limited to budget/estimating, scheduling, planning/design, bidding, construction and closeout phases for projects located on Wooster and all regional campuses.  

How long have you been with OSU?:   I have been with OSU for about 5 months. But worked in higher education with State of Ohio for the last 11 years.  

Tell us about your family/pets:   My wife, Jill, and I have two daughters, Grace and Nora. We also have a miniature dachshund.  

What is your hometown?:  I grew up in Dalton. My wife and I moved to Columbus for 10 years after graduating college but relocated back to Dalton to raise our daughters near family roughly 11 years ago.  

What is something you would like to learn?:  While I have taken French and Italian during schooling neither stuck. I would love to be able to speak a second language fluently.  

What is your favorite restaurant or food?:  I’m a fan of Rueben sandwiches and enjoy eating out at the Twisted Olive in North Canton.  

What is a talent or superpower you wish you had?:  Teleportation- I would skip the commute and travel the world in a blink of the eye. It would also make the commutes to OSU regional campuses quicker.  

Where is your favorite place to vacation?: My favorite vacations seem to be exploring new destinations with my family. Our experiences at Daufuskie Island and Sanibel Island were particularly memorable and enjoyable  

Who is your hero?:  My father, John. As I grow older, I increasingly admire the values he upholds and the way he manages his responsibilities. The sacrifices and unconditional love he gave his children is one I hope to emulate with my own children.
