Directors' Message

As we look to the end of the Autumn 2024 semester, we are proud of the many accomplishments by our faculty, staff and students.  In October, we welcomed over 1,000 visitors to our campus during the Wayne County Farm Bureau’s annual Farm Tour. The Ohio State ATI Junior College Judging Team won the high overall team at the American Royal in the Sheep and Goat Division.  At the end of this semester 7 graduate students and 44 undergraduate students will receive their degrees—you can read more about these students in our newsletter.  On December 3, Kim Sayers will receive the 2024 Wayne County ATHENA award, given to “…accomplished individuals who actively support women in attaining professional excellence and leadership skills.”

We also wanted to thank Wooster Staff Council for holding a town hall.  Dean Kress and I appreciate all the effort and planning that led to such a fantastic event.  During the town hall, I discussed how CFAES Wooster has always strived for research excellence, which drives our industry collaborations and develops our students and workforce. Some of these recent successes are highlighted in this newsletter. Through our research, collaboration and student success, we have always discovered the ways that We Sustain Life.

We hope to see many of you on Friday December 6 from 1:30 to 3:30 for the annual CFAES Wooster Holiday Open House at the Secrest Welcome Center.  We wish everyone the best as we end our semester and enjoy the upcoming holiday season.
