Faculty Spotlight: Edward Nangle

NangleEdward Nangle, originally from Enniscorthy, Ireland, joined OSU in 2016, and is currently an Associate Professor at Ohio State ATI. In terms of teaching, his work is broken into two parts: 75% focusing on plant science engineering technology, and 25% horticulture and crop sciences. Currently, Nangle and his students are working on a three-hole golf course project that allows students to be exposed to that part of the industry. His students travel across the globe to do internships during their time at ATI, with some having the opportunity to work in London, New Zealand, Singapore, and Ireland to gain experience within different parts of the world. Additionally, he also works with Extension, recording weekly Turf Team Times during the summer and working on an educational conference that brings 1,500 attendees.

After working at a golf course starting at the age of 14, Nangle attended the University of Lancashire to obtain his undergraduate degree, completing his Master’s and PhD at The Ohio State University. He has had the opportunity to work in a variety of places, including Australia, Ireland, Florida, and Chicago.

Currently, Nangle lives in Westlake, Ohio, and has two children who are interested in swimming, demolition, sports, and music. He enjoys visiting the Secrest Arboretum with his family, and dining at Broken Rocks. He advises current ATI students to know that nothing is going to be handed to you; you must work for it.
