Student Spotlight: Hunter Snell

Hunter SnellHunter Snell, a second-year Turf Grass Management major, is originally from Wooster, Ohio. Hunter became very interested in golf during COVID, and after meeting with some of the Turf Grass department at ATI, he trusted them to point him in the right direction to grow his career. Within his coursework, Hunter identifies a variety of grasses, weeds, and chemicals, as well as learning about turf analytics and management. He has a younger brother and sister, as well as a chocolate lab named Zeus. He enjoys eating at El Campesino in Wooster. His biggest mentors are Jake Miller, who first introduced Hunter to the idea of working within the turf grass industry, as well as Cody Mitchell, an ATI alumnus whom Hunter worked for this past summer. 3 words Hunter uses to describe himself are goal-oriented, hardworking, and respectful. He advises upcoming and current ATI students to get involved and meet new people on campus by joining clubs and connecting with the community. This summer, Hunter will be doing an internship in Florida, and after graduating from ATI, he hopes to work at Exmoor Country Club – working on renovating the golf course and working his way up to superintendent somewhere after that.
