Research Spotlight: Dr. Joy Rumble

rumbleDr. Joy Rumble (who, by the way, is an Ohio State ATI graduate!) joined OSU faculty in August of 2018 and serves as an Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies for the Department of Agricultural Communication, Education, and Leadership. Her journey into research began during her doctoral program in 2010. In addition to conducting research, she also offers her expertise and time to several projects providing program evaluation and assistance.  Recently, she completed a project funded through a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) on the perceptions of gene editing. The multi-year project, which also included faculty from the University of Arkansas and the University of Florida, focused how the non-scientific community views genetically modified organisms (GMO) and gene editing.

Dr. Rumble also served recently as the program evaluator for a project on the Wooster campus that highlights the importance of including quality of life factors such as healthcare of the farm family into whole farm planning.

Dr. Rumble’s research is not limited to what is listed above. Her work includes numerous other projects that focus on the role of communication and education in the agricultural industry.
