Directors' Message

CFAES Wooster Campus Community,

We are well into the Autumn 2025 semester, with our students just starting the second half, and many of our research plots being harvested, and field data collecting season coming to an end.  We had several opportunities to showcase our campus, including a Wayne Economic Development Council/Northeast Ohio Development Exchange meeting focused on food production opportunities as well as our small ruminant center being one of the many stops for the Wayne County Farm Bureau’s Annual Farm Tour.  Many more events are planned this autumn, including the CFAES Holiday Open House on December 5. Thank you to our CFAES staff, students and faculty that help make our campus events a wonderful opportunity to show our stakeholders the impact of the Wooster campus and CFAES.

Most of you have heard OSU President Carter’s announcement on the Regional Campus Commitment, which will help continue the momentum for ATI and CFAES Wooster.  Our campus provides excellent opportunities to engage with world-class faculty and staff, collaborate with our external partners, and develop workforce skills through experiential learning. One example is our new program, ATI-GROW, which provides experiences for ATI students in faculty research programs and operation activities across campus.  We have three students working in several labs, assisting in various projects and gaining knowledge about CFAES research. For more information on the program, email Loren Harper.202 and Jeanne Semilia.1.

This issue includes spotlights on faculty, staff, students as well as an update from our Livestock Judging Team. Led by Seth Ebert, this relatively new team has had tremendous success at various competitions across the U.S.  over the past few years. Learn more about the goals of their program and cheer them on at upcoming competitions.  Great progress has been made on the campus golf course with tees and greens being installed by Craig Schreiner, an ATI alum. The project has provided an exceptional opportunity for students to be engaged in the construction process.

We hope that everyone finishes the Autumn 2025 semester strong.
